One of our favorite gift plants this year is the Anthurium Root Orb. The pinkish-red flowers bloom for weeks at a time and brighten the winter days. And, its unique base is nothing short of garden art as the roots are bound in sphagnum moss and then set in a saucer for watering and display purposes. When the moss fibers turn light, then add water to the saucer. The moss is 100% organic and sustainably harvested. Remember to grow in full sun and in temperatures warmer than 60 degrees.

Another cheery choice is our Christmas Cactus Collection aptly named Holiday Cheer. The stunning color combination includes three different plants combined in a 5” pot. First, ‘Limelight Dancer’, which has pale-yellow flowers with reddish-purple pistils. Next, ‘Thor Britt’ which boasts pure white flowers with a pink pistil and finally, ‘Thor Alice’ known for its large purple buds that open into deep reddish-orange flowers. This color combination is stunning. Grow in partial sun with temperatures above 40 degrees.

Around the holidays, it has become a tradition for us to grow Meyer Lemons and admire their ripening yellow fruit that’s ready to pick and use just in time for the new year. Meyer Lemons are easy-to-grow and the fruit holds on the tree for months. The compact size allows even an 8” pot to bear a dozen fruit for the gardener to enjoy. Grow in full sun on a windowsill with temperatures above 60 degrees and water when the soil appears visually dry. The fragrant flowers appear intermittently throughout the year.

Our Holiday list wouldn’t be complete if we didn’t mention Amaryllis ‘Samba’. This Dutch-grown bulb reaches 20” tall with two flower stalks and the big, bold, red and white striped, extra-large flowers boast four flowers per stalk. The brilliant red flowers with ruffled white-edged petals and white striping makes an impressive statement and fits with any holiday décor. Grow in full to partial sun and water regularly and the flowers will last for weeks.
